Melbourne City FC’s Hyundai A-League 2016/17 season kicks-off in October with a trans-Tasman clash against Wellington Phoenix in the opening round of Australia’s premier domestic football competition.

John van’t Schip’s side will travel to Westpac Stadium to face Wellington on Saturday 8 October 2016, kick-off 5:35pm (AEST), in what is the first of City’s 14 away fixtures in the 27-round season.

Melbourne City FC will host 13 matches throughout the campaign – all at the Club’s home at AAMI Park in Melbourne.

Those home fixtures include two against reigning Hyundai A-League champions Adelaide United, two against Elimination Final adversaries Perth Glory, two against the Newcastle Jets, and two Saturday night clashes against Semi Finalists Brisbane Roar.

Perth Glory will make the long journey to AAMI Park for City’s first home match of the season in Round 3, with both sides meeting for the first time since Bruno Fornaroli’s heroics secured a memorable 2-0 win in last year’s Elimination final.

City’s record-breaking Men’s and Women’s teams will unite for a double header on Sunday 27 November, where the Club’s W-League side will take the field prior to the Hyundai A-League Round 8 fixture against Wellington Phoenix.

All Melbourne City FC members will gain FREE entry to each of the Club’s Westfield W-League home matches of the 2016/17 campaign.

The build up to the Spring Racing Carnival will reach fever point in Melbourne when City face Adelaide United in Round 4 on Friday 28 October; the first of two home Friday night blockbusters to be played against the Reds.

It is, however, City’s only home Melbourne Derby in Round 11 which is the headline act of a jam-packed festive period.

A busy ‘Summer of Football’ schedule will see City square off against its cross-town rivals at AAMI Park on Saturday 17 December, while fans can carry their Christmas spirit into a Thursday night home encounter against Perth Glory on December 27.

City will take part in several key away fixtures, including two Melbourne Derbies, a New Year’s Eve showdown against the Central Coast Mariners in Gosford, and an Easter Sunday clash against Perth Glory in the final round of the season.

The Club will also face both Western Sydney Wanderers and Sydney FC twice each at Spotless Stadium and Allianz Stadium respectively.
