Melbourne City FC take on Adelaide United at AAMI Park on Saturday afternoon, as they look to make it back-to-back wins at home. See the five things we’re looking forward to ahead of the clash.

Home sweet home

Following a comprehensive 4-1 win over Brisbane, City return to AAMI Park on Saturday afternoon determined to make it six points in eight days in front of the City faithful.

With the April school holidays in full swing, there’s no better time to get down to AAMI Park with the family and support the team in their second last home game of the season.

Six-pointer

With the top-four race heating up, Saturday’s clash is set to be an enthralling six-point battle between two teams fighting for the same goal.

City currently sit in sixth position on 36 points, one point behind Adelaide United (37), who are equal on points with the fourth-placed Wellington Phoenix.

Facing the ‘Nix next weekend in Wellington, Joyce and his men face two consecutive six-point battles as they look to seal their finals position and push towards a top-four finish.

Dazzling De Laet

Is there anything this man can’t do? We’re not so sure.

Ritchie De Laet produced yet another dazzling effort, this time producing a rocket of a strike, leaving Jamie Young with little choice but to watch the ball fire into the top corner of his net last weekend.

With an already impressive, and extensive, highlights reel in City blue, there is no doubt that the 30-year-old will be looking to add to his collection in City’s crucial clash with the Reds.

The run continues…

City’s Round 24 win over Brisbane saw the team extend their unbeaten run at home to 10 consecutive games – with six wins and four draws.

During this time, Head Coach Warren Joyce’s men have kept four clean sheets, highlighting their dominance at home.

With only one loss at the venue this season, which came all the way back in Round 3, the team has thrived in front of the home fans.

Red hot

City are undefeated in their last six clashes with Adelaide, defeating their South Australian opponents in four of those matches.

With one win and one draw coming earlier this season, City will be looking to maintain the bragging rights over the finals contenders.

The last time the two teams met, Jamie Maclaren notched his first goal in City blue, can he make it two from two against the Reds? Get your tickets to find out
