2nd vs 3rd

City’s 5-0 win over Adelaide United on Sunday saw them close the gap to four points on the second-placed Jets.

Joyce’s men are undefeated in their last four games, mounting pressure on Ernie Merrick’s side – who were last week defeated 3-2 by Wellington Phoenix at home.

The equation is simple – City win, and they move one point behind the Jets, but if the visitor’s grab all three points, they extend their gap on third to seven points.

There is no doubt the Jets will be looking to respond as City push to close the gap, setting up an old fashioned six-pointer between the two sides.

Attack, attack, attack

If there is anything that we can safely assume about Thursday night’s clash, it is that there will be plenty of entertainment!

City netted five goals in their last game, while the Jets are only two goals behind Sydney FC for the most goals scored this season.

Daniel Arzani, Marcin Budzinski, Dario Vidosic and Ross McCormack have all hit their straps in attack – contributing to City’s solid run of form over the past month.

On the counter, the Jets possess the likes of Dimi Petratos, Andrew Nabbout and new-recruit Patito Rodriguez – all quality players in the attacking third.

Rock of Bouzanis

Despite the scoreboard suggesting that City registered a comfortable win over the Reds at AAMI Park last week, it wasn’t all one-way traffic, as Dean Bouzanis was crucial in goal.

The shot stopper registered three crucial saves, ensuring that not only the scoreboard but also the momentum didn’t swing towards the away side.

Bouzanis’ efforts in goal saw City register their sixth clean sheet for the season, only second behind top-of-the-table Sydney FC who has registered eight.

Joyce will be calling on his keeper for another standout performance as they face the Jets – the team with the second most shots on goal this season (237).

14 and counting…

Ross McCormack’s thunderous strike against the Reds saw him net his 14th goal in 16 appearances (14 starts).

The striker’s form appears to be wearing off on his teammates, with both Dario Vidosic and Marcin Buzinski scoring two spectacular goals apiece in the last two games.

The Scotsman is in unbelievable form at the minute, as are his teammates; so don’t miss the chance to watch them live and in action!
