Melbourne City will be looking to extend their unbeaten start to the season when they host Perth Glory in Round 6. Ahead of the clash, we take a look at the five things we’re looking forward to.

Hersday night football returns

We’re back for some mid-week ‘Hersday’ night football!

Just a week after making our Thursday night debut at ABD Stadium, we return to host Perth Glory as we seek to continue our unbeaten start to the season.

With school holidays kicking in, there’s no better time to enjoy mid-week football and watch our world-class team in action! Get your tickets here!

Milestone moment

Thursday night’s clash with the Glory will mark experienced Matildas international, Kyah Simon’s 100th Westfield W-League game.

An incredible achievement, Simon joins an elusive group to reach the milestone, joining City teammates Lydia Williams and Steph Catley.

Simon has impressed so far this season and will be eager to make it a match to remember in her milestone game.

Late heroics

From Emily van Egmond’s penalty in Canberra to Yukari Kinga’s 89th minute heroics in last week’s Melbourne Derby, we’ve had a couple of late winners this season!

Rado Vidosic’s side has shown great belief to keep fighting for the result and keep pushing in search of a winner no matter what time the clock reads.

It’s matches like these that give the team great confidence and belief heading into the remainder of the season.

Unbeaten run continues

With four wins and one draw from our opening five fixtures, City will be eager to make it five wins on the trot when they host Perth on Thursday night.

After knocking off last season’s champions, Sydney FC, and premiers, Melbourne Victory, in back-to-back weeks, Vidosic’s side is determined to continue powering on and building on their electrifying start to the 2019/20 campaign.

With the race at the top heating up and City approaching the mid-point of their season, three points against the Glory at home will be crucial!

Crucial momentum into the bye

As previously mentioned, Thursday night’s Round 6 clash marks the mid-point of City’s 2019/20 Westfield W-League season.

With six games to go following City’s Round 7 bye, the team will be eager to head into the break on top of the league ladder.

It’s a big game and we can’t wait to return to ABD Stadium! Head on down and show your support for our W-League team! Get your tickets here!
