A message from the CEO

It’s the news we’ve all been waiting for – after months of frustrations and uncertainty, we are finally on our way to New South Wales to finish what we started last October!

Whilst the events of this past week have been frustrating, it’s time to put the past behind us and get back to what we’re all here to do. To play football and to create club history.

I’ve personally witnessed the attitude of our players and our staff and I can assure you they’ve put in the hard yards behind closed doors and above all, everyone is excited to return to the pitch. The professionalism, understanding and patience from the group has been second to none. I want to publicly thank them and their families for the sacrifices they are making in ensuring we finish this season.

After being granted the necessary exemptions required to travel we will commence a 14-day quarantine period upon our arrival today. We will continue to train during this time and will be adhering to strict protocols to ensure we are fit, healthy and ready to go in a safe environment. However, the quarantine period will mean our July 20 match against Western United is now likely to be rescheduled.  We are awaiting confirmation on this and will let you know as soon as we have the final fixture list.

Nobody is more disappointed than our players that we’re unable to play out the remainder of the season in front of our loyal fans at AAMI Park. I can assure you that we will be playing with all of our heart, and when our team take to the pitch in NSW, they do so with the knowledge that the City Family is right behind them and cheering from afar.

As a club and as a state, we will continue to face challenges in the coming weeks, and I encourage you all to play your part and look after each other. But for now, let’s take a moment to pause and be happy in the knowledge that football is coming back.

C’mon City!
