A vital component of the Melbourne City FC engine room, Aaron Mooy has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the Hyundai A-League.

The 24-year-old began his footballing career as a youth scholar at English club Bolton Wanderers, before joining Scottish Premier League club St Mirren on 23 October 2010. Having made 18 appearances and scoring once in all competitions for the Scottish side, Mooy soon became a fan favourite, earning himself a new two-year contract with the club on 18 May 2011.

After leaving St Mirren on a free transfer, Mooy returned to Australia and was announced as one of the three inaugural signings for new A-League club Western Sydney Wanderers. Mooy made his debut against Central Coast Mariners and on 23 February 2013 and scored his first goal in a 1-0 win over Perth Glory. The Wanderers would later perform above expectations and won the Premier’s Plate in their maiden season.

On 21 May 2014, it was announced that Mooy would join Melbourne City FC ahead of the 2014/15 Hyundai A-League season. The midfielder would go on to have a stellar maiden campaign for John van’t Schip’s side, leading the team goalscoring and assist charts on his way to winning the Club’s Player of the Year award.

Mooy’s excellent domestic form led to a recall to the Socceroos squad for the International friendlies against Germany and FYR Macedonia. The midfielder has made six appearances for the Socceroos since his senior debut against Guam in 2012, adding to his 10 appearances for the Young Socceroos between 2008 and 2009.
