Melbourne Heart Coach John Aloisi has said that he is confident Harry Kewell will play on Saturday evening against the Western Sydney Wanderers at Pirtek Stadium, Parramatta.

The midfielder, who has not featured since Round One’s 0-0 draw with Melbourne Victory in early October, is recovering from an ankle injury and could start on the bench if he is deemed fit enough to play.

Kewell travelled with teammates to Sydney ahead of tomorrow’s Round 9 Hyundai A-League clash.

“He trained today and we will see how he goes tomorrow and if he pulls up alright he will be in the squad,” Aloisi said at Tullamarine Airport today.

“We are hoping that he will be OK and we can put him on the bench and hopefully he can play a part but if he doesn-t feel good we will have to leave it and hopefully [he will be fit] for next week.

“At the moment we are confident that he will be able to be in the squad.”

Aloisi confirmed that if Kewell does recover in time for Saturday-s clash he will be eased back into the team slowly.

“He hasn-t done a lot in the last couple of months so it probably wouldn-t be much more than 15-20 minutes if he does get on and we will have to see how the game is going,” Aloisi said.

“It-s been hard for him, he has been frustrated because he wants to be playing football.

“It-s the first time he has travelled this season and only the second game he is going to be involved in.

“I-m sure it-s a relief for him and he just wants to now get out on the pitch and hopefully keep on going for the rest of the season.”
