Carrusca: I will only get better in this environment

City’s latest signing Marcelo Carrusca made his competitive debut for the Club during Wednesday night’s Westfield FFA Cup Quarter Final and the Argentinian believes he has a lot to offer the side.

Carrusca entered the match after 62 minutes with City 2-0 down and the former Adelaide United marquee added his famous South American flair to the contest despite being unable to find the breakthrough.

The midfielder believes being in the team environment again has sparked his passion to succeed at City, saying being on the ground and playing his role for the team is what drives him as a footballer.

“I was happy to return to the park and be part of the team again and play minutes but it’s very disappointing for the result of course,” Carrusca said.

“It’s been a very warm welcome from the boys, I can’t speak highly enough from the welcome. I know most of the [South American and Adelaide] boys and that’s helped me settle in the team quicker and I’m enjoying it and getting better every day.

“When you play with quality players, you can understand them quicker and that is helping me to be a part of the team.”

With City out of the cup competition, Carrusca said his side can spend the next month preparing for their Round 1 encounter against Brisbane Roar and believes having the complete squad together will allow them to fine-tune their planning ahead of the season opener.

“The result wasn’t the best but it’s done,” he said.

“We need to keep working now, it’s one month to get it right and get ready for round one and give everything.

“We played one of the best teams in the league who have played together for a couple of years now and they know exactly what to do.”

“For us, a month can be a long time towards the games you need to play and we will make sure we are ready for it”

City will continue their pre-season preparations against Western Sydney Wanderers on Friday 22 September in Shepparton. Pre-book your tickets for the match today!
