Melbourne City FC can today announce the re-signing of attacker Andrew Nabbout on a three-year deal. The multi-year deal is part of the Club’s strategy to build the playing squad’s stability and ambition to win silverware.
The former Brunswick City junior joined City at the beginning of the 2020/21 season and after a successful campaign from both a personal and team perspective, has re-signed at City for another three years.
City has been a different team with Nabbout on the pitch, having won 12 of the 15 matches the winger has played, drawing two and losing just the one.
Although he’s been sidelined recently due to an adductor injury, City fans have not yet seen the last of Nabbout this season, the winger being included in the squad for tonight’s clash against Newcastle.
His natural attacking ability is well suited to the Club’s style of football and will create an exciting combination with the recently signed Mathew Leckie and Jamie Maclaren.
Not only are the star attacking trio Socceroos representatives, they were all born and raised in Melbourne.
Melbourne City FC Director of Football Michael Petrillo said:
“Andrew is a natural leader in the dressing room and with his pace, power and skill on the pitch, it makes him a perfect player for our style of football.
“He has played a huge role in the Club winning our first Premiers Plate and his ability to come back from injury and make himself available for the upcoming Finals Series is testament to how hard he works, his passion for the Club and for the fans.”
Andrew Nabbout said:
“I love Melbourne and I feel right at home at the Club. I’m surrounded by people who want to work hard and share my values as a player and as a person.
“There is a clear vision for the Club, the style of football we play and our desire to win trophies.
“We have tasted success this season with a Premiers Plate and we want more from this season’s Finals Series.
“I can’t wait to be back on the pitch to repay the faith that both the Club and the fans have shown me.”
