Melbourne City FC continued its celebrations for International Women’s Day on Wednesday, with an event alongside other Victorian sporting organisations at Parliament House in Melbourne.

The event saw the Victorian Government mark International Women’s Day with the announcement $550,000 will be invested to promote gender equality in grassroots sporting clubs across Victoria.

Elite athletes, program facilitators and State Sporting Organisations will work with local sporting clubs to support and celebrate women and girls’ sport.

This investment recognises the important role of sport in addressing gender equality.

Melbourne City FC Women’s players Emily Shields and Hayley Richmond attended alongside the Club’s W-League team manager Louisa Bisby and Head of Community Sue Crow.
