Melbourne City FC’s City in the Community team have kept busy in recent weeks, bringing plenty of football fun to our local community as several people continue to be impacted by the Coronavirus restrictions.
A special session with some of the women of the Big Issue North Melbourne Street Soccer Program
Our Community team continues to reach out to vulnerable groups in need of extra support during these tricky times. Last Friday the team coordinated a special session with some of women of the Big Issue North Melbourne Street Soccer Program (whose football program is currently suspended) providing an important opportunity for gentle exercise and social connection.
Many of the women experience mental illness and social isolation and their life has been further impacted by the coronavirus restrictions. Their connection to the club and the support to get active proved a big boost to their health and outlook!
Online classes with our English Language School and Community Group Partners
Members of our CitC team alongside some of our Young Leaders have been running online classes and working with our English Language school and Community Group Partners. The online sessions are based on CitC's Welcome 2 Football project and includes a range of videos which promote healthy habits and healthy eating.
The program is designed to educate participants on the importance of a healthy lifestyle and supports them with basic football training drills and activities which can be completed at home with minimal equipment.
