Melbourne City FC hosted its inaugural This Girl Can Tournament at Soccer5s Dandenong on Saturday.

Spring came a day early, as perfect conditions greeted women of all football abilities at City’s This Girl Can 5-a-side tournament at Soccer5s Dandenong.

Eight teams were involved in the enjoyable competition, with four of those teams coming from Soccer Mums programs at Knox, Boroondara Eagles and Macedon Blues United. Victoria Police FC entered one team for the tournament, while the vibrant orange of the Aspendale Stingrays was on show, with the Stingrays filling two teams. This Girl Can V rounded up the eight teams, with a range of Melbourne City Soccer Mums participants coming together to represent This Girl Can in the region.

The day was a great success, with every team and participant showcasing the importance of not only staying fit and healthy, but also the enjoyment that football brings to people of all ages and abilities.

All participants from the tournament have been invited to meet City’s Westfield W-League side at a home game at AAMI Park this season. Finalists from the day also went home with their own Soccer Mums Keep Cups and beanies.

Congratulations to our finalists!
