Melbourne City FC forward Larissa Crummer nabbed a 95th-minute winner as the Westfield Matildas opened their Algarve Cup campaign with a thrilling 4-3 victory over Norway.

With time almost up, Crummer – a triple Championship winner with City – nodded the ball home from a corner in the final act of a pulsating encounter.

City defender Alanna Kennedy played the full 90 minutes for Alen Stajcic’s side, while goalkeeper Lydia Williams was an unused substitute with Brisbane Roar stopper Mackenzie Arnold chosen in goal for the opening match of the tournament.

Steph Catley and Kyah Simon were both absent due to injury.

Australia next plays hosts Portugal on Saturday morning at 2am (AEST).
