Our Welsh dynamo nets yet another spectacular goal in the States, while we track the European adventure of two Championship winning players. See how our W-League stars fared in the latest edition of City Watch.

National Women’s Soccer League (USA)

Seattle Reign 2-2 Portland Timbers

Jess Fishlock continued her knack for scoring spectacular goals to give Seattle Reign their first away point of the season after a pulsating 2-2 draw against Portland Timbers.

Portland equalised eight minutes from time to earn a share of the spoils, leaving Seattle in sixth place on the table after four rounds.

Fishlock netted her second goal of the season in spectacular fashion after just 58 seconds, launching a stunning right-footed shot from 30 yards that sailed past Portland goalkeeper Adrianna French.

The Welsh midfielder was unfortunate to have found the back of her own net in the 37th minute, before City defender Rebekah Stott – who played a full 90 minutes – helped Seattle regain the lead three minutes later with the assist for Merrit Mathias’ goal.

Lauren Barnes also completed a full 90 minutes in the heart of defence for Seattle, while Beverly Yanez featured in attack before being substituted on 74 minutes.

Chicago Red Stars 2-0 Houston Dash

City goalkeeper Lydia Williams was unable to prevent Houston Dash from falling to a 2-0 defeat away to the Chicago Red Stars.

The Matildas stopper – recently crowned the W-League Goalkeeper of the Year after a stellar debut season for City – conceded goals either side of the break in a defeat which leaves Houston in fourth place on goal difference.

Kansas City 1-1 Orlando Pride

City captain Steph Catley played a full 90 minutes as Orlando Pride picked up just their second point of the campaign with a 1-1 draw away to fellow strugglers Kansas City.

The Pride looked destined to pick up their first win of the season when Brazilian Marta opened the scoring after 73 minutes, only for City forward Erika Tymrak to cap off her substitutes cameo with the equalising goal eight minutes from time.

Norwegian Toppserien (Norway)

Valerenga 2-2 Trondheims-Ørn.

Aivi Luik and Teigen Allen both played a full match to help Norwegian top flight side Valerenga to a 2-2 draw with Trondheims-Ørn.

Luik has started in all four matches and scored once for 10th placed Valerenga, while Allen has featured three times for her new side during her first season in the Toppserien.
