Football Federation Australia (FFA) has today released the Westfield W-League 2019/20 Fixture with Melbourne City set to feature in six Thursday night prime-time matches.
With seven games in Victoria, City will host six games in the new season, including three Thursday night games at ABD Stadium, a game at John McEwan Reserve in Shepparton and another at CB Smith Reserve, before finishing the season with a blockbuster double-header against Brisbane Roar at AAMI Park.
City’s fixture includes two epic Thursday night clashes with crosstown rivals Melbourne Victory. The first of those will come in Round 5, when City host Victory in a massive Melbourne Derby at ABD Stadium, before the two teams battle it out under lights at Lakeside Stadium in Round 12.
Rado Vidosic’s side will open their 2019/20 season with successive games on the road, taking on Newcastle Jets in Round 1 before travelling to the nation’s capital to battle it out with Canberra United in Round 2.
City fans will need to wait until Round 3 for the team’s first home game, when the side heads to John McEwan Reserve in Shepparton to take on Adelaide United under lights on Saturday 30 November.
Vidosic’s side will have two bye rounds, with City set to sit out Rounds 7 and 11 respectively. While FIFA International Breaks will take place between Rounds 11 and 12 (27 January – 9 February 2020) and following the completion of the home and away season, prior to the Final Series (2 March – 11 March 2020).
