Get involved, have fun and help us get Victorian communities back on their feet.

Melbourne City FC and City in the Community Melbourne will be hosting a five-a-side football tournament for individuals of all abilities to be played in the spirit of fair play for a good cause.

Hosted at Neil Street Reserve in Carlton, the tournament is the perfect event for a passionate group of friends or the ideal team bonding activity for a corporate organisation looking to combine fun with leadership.

Run by City in the Community’s Young Leaders, the event will incorporate refreshments, music and appearances from Melbourne City FC’s A-League and W-League stars.

All funds raised during the tournament will go directly towards helping children return to education and physical activity following the COVID-19 pandemic and a difficult period of extended lockdown.

While the state remains out of lockdown, the effects of the prolonged period in isolation for many children and vulnerable families remains. It’s now our chance to make a difference and help individuals get back on their feet. Sign up today.

City in the Community’s George Halkias said: “It should be a great event on so many fronts. It’s a great opportunity for businesses and companies to get their employees reconnected after months of working from home and most importantly a fun way to make a difference.”

“We should not lose sight that young people have been greatly impacted by the pandemic and there is much work to be done to support them especially with schooling.

“Teams will get a chance to interact with many of our inspiring young community leaders and other members of the local community at what is as awesome venue. We’ll have a few of our A-League and W-League players down also to offer some handy hints and mingle with everyone.

“Team entry fees will go directly to funding City in the Community football programs at schools and other settings that will help kids get active, eat healthier and improve their schooling as part of our Cityzens Giving for Recovery campaign. This includes setting up before and after school homework clubs.

“Remember that all donations are doubled dollar for dollar by the City Football Group (CFG) and each donation is invaluable to our foundation and our support of the local community.”
