Injured Melbourne Heart FC defender Simon Colosimo will take on a different role from the sidelines today, as he becomes a Twitter pundit during the Club’s #interactivematch.

Heart are encouraging interaction from Hyundai A-League fans during the match, through an initaitve that has seen the team adopt their Twitter ‘handles’ on the back of their shirts.

Fans will be able to vote for their man-of-the-match through the social media platform, with the player’s shirt auctioned online through Save the Children (see details here: http://www.savethechildren.org.au/sites/interactive/).

With Colosimo injured, the experienced defender (and Twitter user) will contribute to the #interactivematch, with his tweets likely to be picked up through Fox Sports’ coverage of the Melbourne Heart and Perth Glory match at AAMI Park today.

“Initially I didn-t get on Twitter for the social aspect, I got on Twitter to give me the opportunity to have everything in the one place,” Colosimo said,

“If you follow the right people and look at the right things you get all of the day-s football news.”

“Then it was a great opportunity to interact with guys from around the world.

“It gave me a good opportunity to stay in contact with players overseas like Aziz [Behich] and BJ [Brendon Hamill].”

“It-s also a good way to gauge fan’s reaction and it-s a good way to sometimes to explain how players are feeling.

Simon has already taken to Twitter today as he looks forward to the match. Here are a selection of his tweets today:

“Congrats @trav_dodd on his 180th @ALeague game tonight. 2nd on the most games list behind @mattthommo8 #INTERACTIVEMATCH #MHvPG #goheart”

“Looking 4ward to hearing #yarraside in full voice helping us over the line again tonight @MelbourneHeart #INTERACTIVEMATCH #MHvPG #goheart”
