Melbourne Heart FC has suffered a blow ahead of tonight-s match against Sydney FC at the Sydney Football Stadium after Wayne Srhoj was ruled out through injury.

While Srhoj is set to undergo scans, it-s expected the midfielder will be sidelined for at least a week with a quadriceps strain, also placing him in doubt for Wednesday-s home clash with Adelaide United.

The 29-year-old-s absence sees Simon Colosimo make his return to the Heart squad for the first time in over a month, allowing the defender to stake his claim for a regular role on match day.

Colosimo has featured four times for Heart this season, with injury and suspension conspiring to force him out of the reckoning for much of the campaign.

Srhoj-s fellow midfielder Jonatan Germano will also sit out the Sydney clash after suffering a setback in his return from a hamstring injury.

The Argentine was expected to be in contention for a return during last week-s Melbourne Derby, but aggravated his injury during training, eliminating the opportunity for van ‘t Schip to insert Germano back into the starting eleven in place of Srhoj.

Midfielders Nick Kalmar and Kliment Taseski are the other members of the Heart injury list, with the duo out of action until early in the New Year.

Kalmar is on the road to recovery from a back injury while Taseski remains out of action indefinitely after suffering a broken foot during a National Youth League friendly match back in October.
