Colosimo: Sydney Win Just Reward

Melbourne Heart FC Captain Simon Colosimo believes his side’s victory over Sydney FC was just reward for their performance at the Sydney Football Stadium on Thursday night.

Melbourne Heart FC Captain Simon Colosimo believes his side-s victory over Sydney FC was just reward for their performance at the Sydney Football Stadium on Thursday night.

While Heart was only able to clinch the three points in the final 10 minutes of its match against the Sky Blues, Colosimo said his team felt in control for the duration of the match.

“If you saw tonight from the corners and free kicks we defended really well and to be quite honest out there I didn-t really feel that much under pressure,” he said.

"It might have seemed that way and the stats might tell you that but I looked around at the boys and they were all comfortable, they knew their jobs and we went on with it."

After consecutive wins away from home, Heart is firmly back in the race for a place in the finals, sitting ahead of the Newcastle Jets and Wellington Phoenix.

Colosimo though is adamant Heart was never out of contention, stating his side haven-t been entirely rewarded for the calibre of their performances.

“We had a couple of indifferent results but we've always believed that we're a good team and that we can get results,” he said. “We've probably been a little bit naive defensively more than anything.”
