COUNTDOWN: 16 days!

There are a mere 16days to go before the new A-League season kicks off for Melbourne Heart.

Simon Colosimo made 16 appearances for the Heart last season, including three off the bench.

The first of his appearances last season came in the first Melbourne derby of the season, a 0-0 draw in which Colosimo-s presence calmed a youthful defence to help Heart to earn a good point at the Etihad.

He will be hoping to fend off competition from new signings Patrick Gerhardt, Steven Gray and David Vrankovic to command the backline once more with similar success in this season-s derby opener.

Another member of that backline is the Heart-s number 16, Aziz Behich.

The flying left back has supposedly been attracting the interest of Turkish Super Lig outfit Besiktas, an indicator of Behich-s exponential improvement since joining the Heart set up.

Retaining his services will serve as a big boost for the Club, who bid adieu to both Brendan Hammil and Curtis Good over the off-season.

Behich will hope to enjoy another relatively injury free season, as he looks to progress further up the national team hierarchy, as well as continuing to refine his game in advanced positions.

Melbourne Heart are also yet to win a game in round 16, losing at home to Adelaide in round 16 of the 2010/11 season, and then 2-1 at home to Perth Glory in the 2011/12 season.
