It’s just one week until the kick-off of the Hyundai A-League season and the 7th Melbourne derby.

Melbourne Heart FC kicks off its 2012-13 Hyundai A-League campaign, its third season in the Club’s history, with a mouth-watering Melbourne derby next Friday night.

The Heart-s season opener against the Victory will be the 7th Melbourne derby and one of the most highly anticipated showdowns between the cross-town rivals.

The Heart boast the better record in the fixture, having won two Melbourne derbies, lost one, with
the other three ending in draws.

John Aloisi has scored more goals than any other in the derby to date, having scored three goals over the course of three derbies played in the 2010/11 season, including the first ever Melbourne derby goal.

There are three players who have scored 7 goals for the Melbourne Heart.

Mate Dugandzic netted 7 times last season from a wide position, while Gerald Sibon and Alex Terra also scored 7 goals when at the Heart.

The number 7 jersey is currently vacant at the club, following the departure of Rutger Worm, who has worn that jersey over the last two seasons.

Worm departed at the conclusion of last season and has since moved back to Holland where he now plays for FC Emmen.

David Williams only made 7 starts last season in his debut campaign and will be hoping to make a bigger impact this season, starting with next week’s derby.
