Like the A-League and W-League, Melbourne City has claimed the first E-League Melbourne Derby win on Thursday, defeating Victory 5-4 over two legs.

City’s Marcus Gomes and Josh Wood came up against Mo Zwed after the late omission of Mitch Austin and the duo were put to the test by the Victory player, taking out the tight contest.

Gomes kicked-off proceeding with a 2-1 win on the XBOX – Bruno Fornaroli finding the winner late on in the first leg – while Wood secured a 3-3 result, ensuring City would take out its second win in successive weeks.

After qualifying for the second FUT Champions Cup this week, Gomes turned his attention to the league competition saying there was only one thing on the agenda this week for his side.

“It was a big win for Josh and I this week against Victory,” he said.

“All we wanted was a win, a loss or a draw wasn’t acceptable so it was good to pick up another three points.”

Up next for City is Brisbane next Thursday night. The Roar sitting on the same record as City with 2 wins out of three with their first loss coming against Adelaide in Round 3.
