Melbourne City has fought out the E-League’s first ever draw on Thursday night with Marcus Gomes and Josh Wood picking up a 4-4 aggregate result against Adelaide.
Gomes was first up to the plate against Jamie O’Doherty in what was set up as the match of the round and it didn’t fail to live up to the expectations with a highly tactical battle between the two. Despite taking the lead, Gomes was pegged back on the stroke of half time with the score remaining level until the final whistle.
It was down to Wood to finish off the contest for City and despite going down 3-1, the PlayStation competitor found the back of the net with the last play of the game, securing an important point for his side.
The matches don’t get any easier for the E-League duo as they come up against Western Sydney next week in another 3rd vs 4th showdown. Don’t forget you can see all the E-League action on Fox Sports stream and Twitch.
