After nine weeks of competition, the E-League Finals day is here as City’s Marcus Gomes and Josh Wood compete to take out the inaugural competition and a chance to qualify for the FIFA eWorld Cup.

City will be the second seed for the competition, finishing the E-League regular season behind Premiers Sydney FC. The seed will only be a number for Gomes and Wood with the duo finishing on equal points with Sydney, only pipped at the post by goal difference.

The format of the E-League Finals series will see a knock-out style competition split into two with the Elimination and Quarter Finals starting at 1pm and the Semi Finals and Grand Final at 8pm.

City will come into the competition at the Quarter Final stage with their seeding, playing the winner of Elimination Final 2 between Brisbane and Wellington.

From there, if City qualify for the Semis, they have the chance to face Perth or Central Coast before taking on the Grand Final.

Gomes and Wood will be taking confidence into the competition with both players in strong form ahead of the Finals. Gomes has just returned from Manchester after the FUT Champions Weekend, qualifying for the elimination stages and being knocked out by the eventual winner.

Wood and Gomes have also finished in the top two of the Gfinity FIFA eWorld Cup qualifying stages on their respective consoles with a second chance to qualify for the competition.
