E-League Preview: City v Brisbane

Melbourne City will be looking to record its third consecutive E-League win on Thursday night as it faces Brisbane Roar.

The duo of Marcus Gomes and Josh Wood took out the first E-League Melbourne Derby last week, taking out a 4-3 aggregate win over Victory, seeing Gomes continue his unbeaten run in the competition. The result puts City one spot above Brisbane in fifth who suffered their first loss of the season last week.

Two 2-1 results for Brisbane’s James Williams and Dino Flocco against Adelaide saw the Roar go down 4-2 in aggregate scoring – seeing only Central Coast and Sydney FC maintain a perfect start to the competition.

Wood faces Flocco in the first leg on the PS4 while Gomes takes on Williams in the second leg on XBOX in what is set to be an intriguing encounter. There is no doubt Gomes will want to maintain his unbeaten record in the comp while Wood will want to make things a little easier for his teammate, looking to build a strong base for the Rest of World number one.

Shots have already been fired before the encounter with Williams sending this tweet out on Wednesday.
