As Melbourne City take on Perth in the A-League this weekend, the two clubs will also take the rivalry to the PS4 and XBOX on Thursday night as they go head-to-head in the E-League.
City will be looking to bounce back from its tight opening round loss to Sydney as it faces a Perth side who accounted easily for Wellington Phoenix.
The pairing of Marcus Gomes and Josh Wood come up against David Cook and Peter Saisanas in what is set to be an even contest on both consoles and what is shaping up to be a must-win for the City duo.
After getting the season underway, Gomes and Wood were disappointed with their opening round performance but say the opening round was an important learning experience heading into the regular season.
“It was great to finally get started. Having my first match up against Marko and coming so close has really fired me up for the rest of the season,” Wood said.
“Pete [Saisanas] played an outstanding game last week against Wellington and he was player of the week for good reason. There’s no doubt he’s going to look to bring that form into this match so I’m ready for whatever he throws.”
