Engelaar to serve one-match suspension

Melbourne Heart FC's marquee man Orlando Engelaar will miss one match after his red card in the Red and White's 2-1 win over Sydney FC on Friday night.

Melbourne Heart FC's marquee man Orlando Engelaar will miss one match after his red card in the Red and White's 2-1 win over Sydney FC on Friday night.

Engelaar was dismissed just after the half-hour mark of the Round 17 match at AAMI Park, for a lunging tackle on Hagi Gligor.

Melbourne Heart went on to win the encounter against Sydney through a late David Williams goal, but will have to face Perth Glory in Albury this weekend without its marquee player.

Below is the official statement from the Match Review Panel:

"The independent Match Review Panel (MRP) - consisting of Simon Micallef (Chair), Alan Davidson and Alan Contini - convened to consider the following incidents from Round 17 of the Hyundai A-League 2013/14 Season:

1. The incident involving Orlando Engelaar (Melbourne Heart FC) in or around the 32nd minute of Melbourne Heart FC-s match against Sydney FC on Friday evening. The MRP has the authority to consider the incident as the Player was issued with a direct red card.
