The votes are in for the Etihad Airways Player of the Month for December and we have a winner! Congratulations Nathaniel Atkinson!
Not only has Atkinson picked up his first Etihad Airways Player of the Month nomination in his first month of senior football but the Tasmanian-born flyer as taken it out as well, bursting out on the scene with his performances. Atkinson’s is the second player to pick up the award this season, halting Bart Schenkeveled’s run in October and November.
Atkinson was a revelation for City in December, making his debut against Central Coast Mariners and not looking a step out of place. The youngster held his own against Sydney FC after being called up as an early sub but his stand-out match was against Melbourne Victory where he kept danger man Leroy George quiet – a task that many players have found difficult this season.
