Nick Fitzgerald

After claiming the Etihad Player of the Month in February, Nick Fitzgerald continued his fine form in March, with City’s striving to secure third place in the Hyundai A-League.

Despite starting on the bench against Newcastle Jets in round 23, Fitzgerald came on to make a significant impact, adding energy and drive to City’s forward line.

The attacking midfielder netted City’s second goal in a resounding 4-0 victory, after some superb link-up play with Anthony Cáceres.

Fitzgerald’s influence against The Jets earned him a start against Western Sydney Wanderers the following week, and he quickly repaid City manager Michael Valkanis by setting up Neil Kilkenny’s opener after just three minutes.

Neil Kilkenny

Neil Kilkenny remains the linchpin of City’s midfield and has maintained his high standards in March, earning a fourth nomination for the Etihad Player of the Month.

City’s midfield general scored his second goal of the season against Western Sydney Wanderers in round 24, when his long-range effort deflected past Wanderers goalkeeper Vedran Janjetovic.

Kilkenny’s stats were once again impressive and in City’s three games in March, the midfielder made 176 passes while recording a pass accuracy of 81.6 per cent.

Kilkenny also played an important role protecting City’s back line and was involved in 23 duels in the middle of the park.

Bruno Fornaroli

Bruno Fornaroli has found the back of the net four times this month, including back-to-back braces against Central Coast Mariners and Newcastle Jets, taking his tally to 17 league goals for the campaign.

Fornaroli opened the scoring against The Mariners in round 22 with an accomplished free kick and, following a comeback from the hosts, the City captain emphatically converted a late penalty to seal a valuable three points for Michael Valkanis’ side.

City’s star forward was on target again a week later, adding City’s third and fourth goals in the comprehensive victory over Newcastle Jets at AAMI Park.
