Aaron Mooy has been named Melbourne City FC’s inaugural Etihad Player of the Month after his stand-out performances throughout October.
The midfielder picked up two assists and had a stellar opening to the season, making a great impression on not only Melbourne City FC Head Coach John van’t Schip, but Socceroos boss Ange Postecoglou, resulting in a call-up to the Socceroos for a recent friendly against Japan.
Mooy has already become a fan favourite with his tenacity in both defence and attack. Calm on the ball, Mooy possesses a great range of distribution, a dangerous set-piece and does not shy away from a tackle.
An impressive 21 tackles were laid by Mooy over the opening four matches, rivalling some of the best defenders in the league, but the midfielder’s ability to whip dangerous balls into the penalty area from set pieces or in general play speaks for itself, delivering 30 crosses.
