The Red and White faithful took to Facebook over the last few days to celebrate and dissect our opening win of the Hyundai A-League season.

Here are some of the highlights:

Luke Nicolaci Great goal, babalj must start next week. He did more in 30 minutes than what maycons done all year. Mate is on fire!! And good and hamill along with colosimo have given us a great central defensive partnership

Tom Wijgers Quite frankly pretty much everyone played well yesterday. If I had to pick one I will say Behich. How far did he run?! Dugandzic was great as always. We’re gonna miss them both.

Nath Prins Not cos they scored, but Maté, Fred and Aziz were our most creative players. But good football from everyone I think! We shut them down quickly!

Michael Hatherell Hamill was great in defence, Shroj does a lot that doesn’t get noticed, Babalj was a great presence and set up the first goal, but Behich was probably best on field.

Alessandro Monforte Goooo Heart let’s keep the wins coming and show people we are going to paint not only Melbourne but the other towns red 🙂

Billy Kilbride if Behich keeps playing that good he wont be with us much longer….he will be playing in Europe.

Michael Hatherell Loved it! Great to see Babalj give some structure to the attack – but kudos also should go to players like Shroj and Hamill for strong performances as well.

Paul Johnston Played well, which was most important. Someone has obviously taken the players aside and explained what the things with nets at the end of the pitch are for !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Damon Ferguson Well earned victory. It has been on the cards for a few weeks now. Behich, nice goal, but we still want more from you. You need to be more decisive with ball entry into the box.

Gareth Chadwick Thought Brendan Hamill was excellent yesterday, showed great composure in a revamped defence. Also Matt Thompson’s a great utility player – was a bit worried when JvS shifted the back four around to bring Madaschi on, but the boys adapted well. Babalj looks like the player we need up front, bit more of a presence in the box.
