Football Federation Australia (FFA) has moved the kick off for today-s Melbourne Heart v Perth Glory Hyundai A-League match back two hours to 5pm to protect the welfare of players in hot conditions in Albury.

Under the FFA-s Heat Policy, officials have made the decision to defer kick off for two hours after monitoring the Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) this morning in Albury.

The WBGT takes into account the air temperature, humidity, wind, and radiation to provide an accurate indicator of the risk of heat related injuries, widely regarded as “world-s best practice”.

This morning-s decision has been taken after monitoring the WBGT and taking into consideration the need for both teams to be able to prepare properly for the match.

Further monitoring will take place throughout the day to decide what appropriate measures should be put in place to ensure player welfare.

FOX Sports has confirmed they will still broadcast the match LIVE and exclusive at 5pm on Fox Sports 3, which will be run in conjunction with the Newcastle Jets v Wellington Phoenix match, which also kicks off at 5pm and will be broadcast on FOX Sports 1.
