Five things to look forward to: City v Brisbane

Palmer v Roar

A big evening of City football at AAMI Park!

Sunday is going to be a huge night at AAMI Park as we host our first double header of season 2020/21.

The action kicks off at 4.05pm when Rado Vidosic’s W-League squad host Brisbane and then continues with City’s A-League squad taking on Perth at 6.40pm.

You won’t want to miss the likes of Alex Chidiac and Emma Checker in action at AAMI Park for the first time this season and you can get your tickets here!

Members will be able to use their redemption code to redeem their tickets through Ticketek for Sunday’s double header.

Another crack at Brisbane

This will be our second fixture against Brisbane this season after we opened our campaign to them away from home at Dolphin Stadium back in late December.

The points were split in a match that was played in hot and humid conditions where neither side were able to find a goal.

Teagan Micah was massive in her first game for the Club, pulling off seven saves on her way to being named the Player of the Match.

A chance to get back on the winner’s list

Vidosic’s squad will be aiming to pick up what is a massive three points on offer as we edge closer towards the middle of the W-League season.

Our most recent outing was a 2-1 draw away to Adelaide United and with finals only getting closer and closer, a win is vital to build momentum and make a run to ensure we once again are making an appearance.

We’ve missed finals just once since our debut W-League season in 2015/16 and Vidosic’s squad have showed some good signs in recent weeks but a win is crucial on Sunday evening.

Our newest signing makes her debut

Norwegian midfielder Noor Eckhoff is out of quarantine and after a full week of training with the team this week, will be available for selection.

She is a hard-working defensive midfielder who has represented her country at under 17, 19 and 23 levels.

While she has only been with the team for a week, expect to see her make her debut at some stage in Sunday’s fixture.

As close as we’ve been to full strength all season

With Jenna McCormick on track to make her return from the head knock that kept her out of our last fixture, we will be as close to full strength as we have been this season.

Captain Emma Checker now has a couple of appearances under her belt, including playing the full 90 minutes in our last match.

Sofia Sakalis and Chelsea Blissett both remain out as they rehab their respective ACL injuries but Vidosic will otherwise have the full squad to select from for Sunday’s clash.
