Fixture changes for Round 8

Football Federation Australia has made several amendments to the Round 8 Hyundai A-League fixture with North Queensland’s home match against Adelaide United moved to Sunday September 27.

Football Federation Australia has made several amendments to the Round 8 Hyundai A-League fixture with North Queensland’s home match against Adelaide United moved to Sunday September 27.

Townsville will play host to an airshow on Saturday September 27 and FFA has decided to move the match from that date in order for football fans to attend both matches.

The clash between the two teams, which shared a thrilling 3-3 draw in Round 4, will now be held at 5pm AEST on the Sunday, with the other two matches, Wellington v Central Coast (now 1pm AEST) and Brisbane v Sydney FC (3pm AEST) both moved an hour earlier to accommodate for the extra match.

The fixture change also allows the Gold Coast v Melbourne Victory match to be moved two hours later to 7:30pm, avoiding a clash with the end of the AFL Grand Final.

“Following discussions regarding Australia’s biggest air show in Townsville, FFA decided to move North Queensland Fury-s Saturday match to Sunday to allow fans and their families the ability to catch both of these high-quality events,” Hyundai A-League boss Archie Fraser said.

“This has facilitated the move of the Gold Coast United v Melbourne Victory game from 5.30pm to 7.30pm allowing fans of both codes access to view both the AFL Grand Final and this top-billing Hyundai A-League match if they wish.”

“We feel that these changes will benefit all parties involved in the Hyundai A-League.

The Friday night match between Newcastle and Perth Glory remains unchanged with an 8pm kick-off.
