Fixture update: Saturday 13 February fixtures postponed

Melbourne City FC corner flag

Unfortunately we can confirm that both our A-League and Westfield W-League fixtures planned for Saturday 13 February have been postponed.

Our W-League squad were scheduled to play at 5.05pm tomorrow at CB Smith Reserve against Newcastle, before our A-League clash against Western Sydney at Bankwest Stadium.

APL Commissioner Greg O’Rourke has made the decision to halt any travel this weekend involving Victorian-based teams  with Victoria’s five-day lockdown in mind which will come into effect at 11.59pm Friday 12 February.  This extends to any teams that were scheduled to travel to Victoria.

Like you, we are disappointed to see these fixtures postponed but if we all do the right thing, hopefully it won’t be long until we have City football back!

Tuesday’s home fixture against Sydney FC has at this stage not been ruled out, although it is unlikely to go ahead. If the match is played, it will be behind closed doors.

All tickets already purchased for Saturday’s W-League match and Tuesday’s A-League match will be fully refunded.

We’ve been in this situation before and we stuck together and got through it. Let’s do it again Melbourne.

Stay tuned for fixtures updates in the coming days.
