Golden Boot winner Bruno Fornaroli says he’s prepared to give it his all as City get set for Sunday’s Elimination Final against Perth Glory.

The Urugyuayan has taken the league by storm, scoring 23 goals in 27 matches this season, and ‘El Tuna’ says it will mean little if his side don’t progress to the Semi Finals.

“I worked hard for this but when you score 23 goals and don’t win the league, it’s different,” Fornaroli said.

“You don’t enjoy it if you don’t win the league. That’s why we need to play 100% in this final to win the league.

“When I came I said I wanted to win the league and I have the opportunity to go for this dream, win the first league for this Club and work hard.

“I didn’t promise goals, I worked hard for this team and I tried to fight every game. When you do those things and work hard, these things come.”

The striker has received praise from here and abroad for his impressive season and the humble man from the famous Salto stable says he’s looking forward to the match on Sunday.

“I think the team is very good, it’s a very important game, a final, but I think we need to enjoy this game,” he said.

“Nobody else has the opportunity to play this game and you need to play to enjoy it. I think you have to enjoy these types of games and get the most out of it and be happy.

“I don’t think too much about (the match). I come to play and enjoy it. I can’t think too much if the players are strong, I can’t think too much before the game, it’s not my style.

“I think it’s better when you play your game. If you think too much, you don’t play well.”

With it all to play for against Perth at AAMI Park, City’s star forward is confident that the side is strong enough to get the job done this season.

“This team has good players, if you think Melbourne City can’t win the league, then I’ll take my boots and go home,” he said.

“I am very confident with this team and everyone works hard to win the league. It’s more easy for me when you play with the other boys, they work very hard and play very smart football and help me every time, it’s perfect for me.”

City take on Perth this Sunday at AAMI Park, kick-off 5pm. This is our final and we need you to be there! Secure your place at the match today.
