A brace from Bruno Fornaroli on Sunday secured his side’s passage to the Hyundai A-League Semi Finals and the Uruguayan believes enjoying every moment on the field is the key to his outstanding season.
Fornaroli netted twice in spectacular fashion against Perth with a brilliant set piece and a goal of the season contender and ‘El Tuna’ says he’s not ready to stop there, wanting City to go all the way this season.
“I’m enjoying it here, I’m enjoying it with the fans, I'm enjoying it with my teammates,” Fornaroli said.
“This is perfect for me. I think when you play in the final, you need to play to enjoy it, that's the secret.
“I think the team worked hard yesterday. When you don’t have a second opportunity, you need to play like this and I think the team worked very hard.
“To win the first final like this is perfect for us. We’ll take a lot of confidence into the next match.”
The striker played down his miraculous bicycle kick opener, stressing moreso the importance of scoring the first goal in the contest and felt Friday will be a more even contest to the last encounter between the sides.
“It was a beautiful goal. It was important for the game and after this I think we had control of the game. For this, when you score to open the game, it’s very important,” he said.
“(Friday) is a different game. After yesterday, I think we have more confidence and we are going for the win.
“The final is different. When you don't have another opportunity you have to work like this to try to win and when you work like this, it's difficult to lose.
“I think it's very important to work hard. After this if you work hard, the results will come and also the second final is the same thing for us. Try to work and that's it.”City take on Adelaide this Friday night in the first Hyundai A-League Semi Final, kick-off 7.45pm AEST. Members can take advantage of the priority ticket window today!
