Melbourne Heart FC captain Fred is in line to make a remarkable return from injury during this weekend-s Hyundai A-League match against Gold Coast United at Skilled Park.

The Brazilian dynamo has once again demonstrated his stellar recuperative powers by making a swift recovery from the groin strain which sidelined him during Wednesday-s encounter with Adelaide United.

While Fred still needs to successfully complete one final training session before confirming his place on the plane to the glitter strip, the news of his potential return is a boost for the side as Heart looks to return to its winning ways.

The former DC United star won-t be joined however by fellow midfielders Jonatan Germano and Wayne Srhoj, who remain unavailable for selection until next week.

The duo have been joined on the injury list meanwhile by defender Simon Colosimo, who suffered bone bruising to his knee and is set to be out of action for at least a fortnight.

Although Fred-s likely return is a boon for head coach John van ‘t Schip, the former Dutch international remains unflappable, stating the even nature of the competition ensures any side is capable of toppling another on its day.

“We won against all the opponents (in our strong run of form) except against Adelaide and Central Coast in this league, but we can lose to everybody as well,” van ‘t Schip said.

“It’s something that we have to know, we have to work on, it’s a very competitive league.”

“We did very well, we want to go as high as possible but it’s not said that ‘OK, this was only one game and from now on we start making the run again of six wins’.”
