Melbourne Heart FC hosted the inaugural Schools Cup Grand Final between finalists PEGS and Ivanhoe Grammar on Friday at AAMI Park.

PEGS were victorious in the final, triumphing 2-1 over Ivanhoe Grammar, after both sides reached the finale of the tournament following the preliminary rounds in April this year.

Over 400 students from 19 Victorian schools vied for a place in the final in the original tournament, which was held at Mentone Grammar and Haileybury playing fields on April 20.

Ivanhoe Grammar and PEGS (Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School) featured in the curtain-raiser match prior to Melbourne Heart FC’s Round 6 Hyundai A-League fixture against Sydney FC.

Melbourne Heart’s Argentine midfielder, Jonatan Germano, presented PEGS with the trophy and winners medals.
