With two games remaining in the regular Hyundai A-League season, Melbourne Heart FC midfielder Richard Garcia remains optimistic the Red and White can qualify for the Finals Series.

However, Heart’s number 11 believes his side faces an ‘uphill battle’ to remain in the hunt for a finals berth as they approach difficult away trips against Brisbane Roar and Central Coast Mariners.

While Heart has won just once away from home and picked up a solitary point outside of Melbourne, Garcia reiterated that the team could not dwell on results away from home.

“Our away form is in the past now and the focus must be on the next two games and we can’t dwell on our previous away form,” Garcia said.

“We do face an uphill battle, but we are still in with a chance.”

Garcia said that last night’s performance was a vast improvement on Monday’s 2-0 loss against Adelaide United and the team showed it could gel well despite the mix of youth and experience.

“You need that youth coming through but you need that experience there to guide them through and have that nice balance,” Garcia said.
