In a positive sign for John Aloisi’s squad depth, Melbourne Heart FC midfielder Jonatan Germano is back in training with the first team this week.

Germano, who played an integral role for Heart under John van ‘t Schip last season, has endured a run of bad fortune in the off-season, suffering two separate injuries which have hampered his comeback for the 2012-13 campaign.

The Argentine sustained an ankle injury in a pre-season friendly against Northcote City SC and soon after shaking that set back, Heart’s number 13 suffered a calf injury in training, pushing his return backwards.

Germano has worked with Heart’s High Performance Manager Tom Reddin in his recovery and while not expected to take the field this weekend, Germano may be available to make his comeback for the National Youth League side the following week.

Germano made 22 appearances for Heart last season, scoring three goals.
