Melbourne Heart FC has further bolstered its squad for the upcoming Hyundai A-League season with the signing of Argentine Jonatan Germano.

The utility joins the Club on a two-year deal, swapping the Red and White stripes of South American giants Estudiantes de La Plata for those of Melbourne Heart FC.

Head Coach John van‘t Schip said Germano-s ability to play in both midfield and defence make him a fantastic addition to the Club-s squad.

“Throughout his trial period at the Club, Jonatan proved himself to be a player of significant technical quality who compliments the other pieces of our team,” he said.

“His distribution and poise on the ball ensure he will be able to fit into our system, while his capacity to be fielded in a number of positions is obviously another plus.

“Having spent time at a Club like Estudiantes is a clear sign of his ability, but of more importance to us was the way he was able to demonstrate his quality over the past few weeks.”

While Germano joins from Estudiantes, the Buenos Aires native is no stranger to playing football abroad, having spent stints on loan with HNK Rijeka in Croatia, the former club of Heart Assistant Coach Ante Milicic and Paraguay-s Sportivo Luqueno.

Joining the likes of Fred, Maycon and David Williams, Germano is the sixth recruit to sign for Heart this off-season as the Club seeks to mount a charge towards a debut finals appearance.
