Gomes exits FUT Champions Cup in Barcelona

Melbourne City FC’s e-Sports player Marcus Gomes was eliminated in the group stages of the FUT Champions Cup in Barcelona this week on the road to the FIFA e-World Cup.

Gomes was the only participant from Australia in the tournament, representing the Rest of World in the global competition where he faced the eventual winner (@DhTekKz), semi-finalist (Hashtag Ryan) and 2016 FIWC Grand Finalist (Sean ‘Dragon’ Allen) in an incredibly tough group stage.

The e-Sports player walked away with two wins and four losses in his six-round group stage with Gomes needing at least three wins to have any chance of qualifying for the next stage of the tournament.

Gomes will now work towards the second FUT Champions Cup in April and the FIFA e-Club World Cup for the chance to qualify for the FIFA e-World Cup in June.

We would like to congratulate Marcus on making it that far in the tournament and catching the eye of many in the FIFA e-Sports world.
