Melbourne Heart FC defenders Brendan Hamill and Craig Goodwin have been recognised for their Hyundai A-League form by earning selection to the Qantas Australian U/23s for next week-s Asian Qualifier for the 2012 London Games against Iraq in Gosford.

Hamill and Goodwin will link up with Aurelio Vidmar-s 18-man squad on Monday, as the side looks to end its Olympic qualifying campaign on a high and secure its first win of the group phase.

Head Coach John van ‘t Schip believes Hamill and Goodwin-s call up is a fine reward for their performances over the past two months, saying they will be richer for the experience.

“The Club is obviously proud to see another two youngsters earn selection to represent their country,” he said.

“As a coaching staff, our job is to not only field a competitive side week-in, week-out, but to also develop and nurture footballers capable of taking the next step.

“Brendan and Craig are certainly players who fit that profile, and we are all excited to see how they perform next week.”
