Melbourne Heart FC rising star Brendan Hamill believes the side needs to start capitalising on its scoring opportunities ahead of Saturday-s match with the Newcastle Jets.

Hamill netted his debut professional goal during last week-s match in Adelaide, sending Heart into the lead with a coolly taken strike before a late effort from Spase Dilevski ensured the points were shared.

However, the away side certainly weren-t without their chances, as the Red and White-s were once again made to rue its profligacy in front of goal.

“The past three games we-ve drawn, we haven-t lost, which is a big positive. We-ve got a good group of boys here who all work for each other, so hopefully it all comes together on Saturday,” Hamill said.

“We-ve got to do all the right things, remain concentrated, but we need to put teams away early as well. We need to take our chances.”

After succumbing to a heart breaking 2-3 loss in week one against the Jets, Hamill expects the Hunter Valley outfit to once again provide a challenge when they face off at AAMI Park.

Having played under Jets Head Coach Gary van Egmond at the Australian Institute of Sport, Hamill is well acquainted with the Newcastle boss, and is confident he-ll have the side well drilled.

“They had a win last week with the new coach Gary van Egmond, who I was with at the AIS. He-s a good coach, so he-ll have his boys ready to go,” he said.

“But we-re doing all the right things here; we training hard, we-re working well and we-ll give it a go. Hopefully we can get the three points.”
