Heart to tackle Peninsula Select on Sunday

From Lismore to Langwarrin; Melbourne Heart’s next pre-season challenge will come in the shape of a Peninsula select side this Sunday.

On the back of the Club-s week-long camp in northern New South Wales a fortnight ago, Heart will travel south to Langwarrin to face a Peninsula XI side this Sunday.

Heart secured a penalty shootout victory against the Western Sydney Wanderers in its last pre-season hit out in Lismore, while this weekend-s game will provide an opportunity for the club to engage with the Mt Eliza community.

Sunday-s match will conclude a weekend junior football festival, which will involve nine local clubs from across the Peninsula; Mt Eliza Junior Soccer Club, Rosebud Heart Junior Soccer Club, Langwarrin SC, Seaford United SC, Skye United SC, Baxter SC, Casy Kings FC, Casey Comets FC and Mornington SC, while Port Melbourne SC is also competing.

President of Mount Eliza Junior Soccer Club and festival organiser Pete McLoughlin predicts there will be an increase on the 370 kids who participated in last year-s event, to more than 500 across the two days this year.

Heart will warm up against the Peninsula side before its final pre-season hit-out against Perth Glory on Saturday 22 September.
