INJURY UPDATE: Koren sidelined with calf injury

Melbourne City FC Head Coach ruled out international marquee Robert Koren for the next four to six weeks with a calf injury.

“We had big hopes that Robi would be available for the game against Newcastle [Jets], but he had a set-back on the Friday when we were training at AAMI Park.

“From that set back we have the results in – he had an MRI – and it’s not looking better, so he is going to be out for a few weeks, so it is a big disappointment.

“It’s hard for me to tell [when he will be back]. It’s going to take a few weeks and the prognosis was about four weeks and then [he needs to] build up to play. We’re talking about five to six weeks.

“For us all it’s a big disappointment, but for Robi it is the biggest disappointment.

“Let’s hope that he can come back before that, but with those kind of injuries we have to be very patient and also not take any risks.”

van’t Schip said it was unlikely the Club would pursue an injury-replacement player.
