Budapest will forever be a special place for Daniel Arzani after the youngster scored his first goal for the Socceroos on Saturday in his side’s final friendly ahead of the 2018 World Cup.

The City winger entered the match against Hungary after 73 minutes, finding the back of the net two minutes later to open his Socceroos account.

His impact didn’t stop there, playing a pivotal role in the national side’s second half performance and finding the line-splitting ball to Jackson Irvine to secure the 2-1 result against the Magyars at the Groupama Arena.

The impressive cameo has put Arzani in the forefront of Bert van Marwijk’s calculations for the first group match against France on Saturday with the youngest player at the World Cup likely to play some role in the contest.

The City connection was a constant throughout the side on Saturday with Aaron Mooy and Aziz Behich playing the full 90 minutes against Hungary while Tim Cahill came on for the final ten minutes of the contest.
