City forward Tim Cahill has been selected in the final 25-man Socceroos squad to take on Honduras in the CONCACAF-AFC play-off held between November 10 and 15.

The hero in the AFC play-off leg against Syria, Cahill retains his spot in a side that has been bolstered by the return of Matthew Leckie and Mark Milligan who return from suspension.

Cahill will be available for Friday night’s clash with Sydney FC before departing Melbourne for San Pedro Sula as the Aussies assemble in enemy territory from Sunday 5 November.

Socceroos Head Coach Ange Postecoglou is confident the side he has selected for the two legs can secure qualification for 2018’s competition.

“It has been pleasing to see so many of our players performing strongly for their clubs domestically and abroad, and I believe that puts us in good stead for our upcoming play-off matches,” said Postecoglou.

“With two games in five days and extensive travel between the fixtures, every member of our squad will play an important role this November.

“We’ll be looking to get positive result in San Pedro Sula, before aiming to seal a place at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia in front of our home fans in Sydney,”

The Socceroos face Honduras on Friday 10 November before returning home for the second leg on Wednesday 15 November.
