City forward Tim Cahill has been selected in the final 23-man squad for the remaining 2018 World Cup Qualifiers in Group B as the Socceroos take on Japan and Thailand.
The country’s all-time leading goal scorer joins James Troisi and Mark Milligan as the only representatives from the A-League with Socceroos Head Coach Ange Postecoglou selecting an experienced side for the vital qualifiers.
“I believe that the players that we have named today are ready for these two very important matches.” Postecoglou said.
“Throughout this qualification campaign we have looked to evolve and improve from match to match.
“Our focus is to get a positive result against Japan and then look to finish the group stage with a win on home soil in Melbourne against Thailand.”
Cahill and the Socceroos will begin to assemble for Tokyo from Sunday 27 August.
